We know how hard it is to keep your kids entertained during the summer. These days, it's easy for everything to revolve around screens, and before you know it, the entire summer is wasted staring at a device.

Josh Powell Camp is the perfect place to bring your children ages 5–10 and let them get back to really being kids, exploring, creating, and playing outdoors from 8am to 3pm every day.

Our counselors are energetic Elementary School Teachers and College Students who are committed to making this the best summer ever for your children.

What to Expect

A Typical Day at Summer Camp

Every day is different, but here's what a typical summer camp day looks like at Josh Powell Camp.

8:10 am

Morning Arrival

Bus riders arrive at camp after pickup from three locations across Atlanta. Car riders arrive at 8:45am. Counselors greet every camper by name and lead morning group time - songs and games!

9:00 am

First Activity Block

Campers rotate through activities like archery, arts & crafts, fort building, or nature walks. Small groups ensure every child gets hands-on time with counselors.

10:30 am

Swimming Time

Supervised swim sessions with certified lifeguards. Kids cool off, play water games, and practice swimming skills in a safe, fun environment.

12:00 pm

Lunch & Rest

Campers eat the lunches they bring from home in the shade, with a quick 15 minute g-rated movie to relax in preparation for the rest of the active afternoon!

01:00 pm

Afternoon Adventures

Ropes course, canoeing on the lake, arts & crafts, or group games. Afternoon activities are action-packed and designed to tire kids out in the best way possible.

02:45 pm

End of Day & Pickup

Car riders are picked up at 2:45pm (extended care until 5pm available). Bus riders depart at 2:30pm and return to their designated pickup locations by 3:00pm.

We take your child's safety seriously. Here's how we keep every camper safe, healthy, and happy all summer long.

First Aid On-Site

First aid certified counselors. We handle minor injuries and have emergency protocols for anything more serious.

Low Camper Ratios

We maintain a high staff-to-camper ratio so your kids always have our attention for their safety and wellbeing.

Health Protocols

If your camper has allergies or health accommodations, contact us directly. We work with every family to ensure a safe summer.

Certified Lifeguards

All swimming activities are supervised by certified lifeguards. We maintain strict safety protocols at the lake.

Background Checks

Every single staff member and counselor passes a full background check before working at JPC. No exceptions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our goal is to make summer day camp affordable for every family. Because every kid deserves to experience summer camp.

    $415 / 4 day

  • Josh Powell Summer Camp welcomes all campers ages 5–10! Our unplugged, low-stress camp experience is perfect for first-time campers and returning campers alike. We group kids by age to ensure appropriate activities and peer interaction.

  • Our camp is located at 5242 Wade Green Rd NW, Acworth, GA 30102, just north of Atlanta in Cherokee County. We have a large camp sign at the entrance. Our nearest landmark is Kennesaw State University, just one exit south. However, most families use our bus service so you don't have to drive!

  • We offer bus service from three convenient locations: Trinity Presbyterian Church (Moores Mill Rd), Kairos Church (I-285 & Riverside), and Roswell Cultural Arts Center. Buses depart at 8:25am sharp and return by 3:00pm. Car riders can drop off at camp between 8:45am–9:00am and pick up between 2:45pm–3:00pm.

  • We offer full refunds for any cancellation made before May 15th, 2026 with no questions asked. After May 15th, we handle cancellations on a case-by-case basis and do our best to credit your payment toward a future session whenever possible.


  • Yes, absolutely! Tours can be arranged by texting the camp office at (678) 369-0780. We're closed for tours on weekends in May due to camp preparations being in full swing, but we're happy to schedule a visit any other time.

  • Absolutely! Many of our campers are first-timers. Our counselors are experts at helping nervous kids warm up quickly. By Day 2, most first-time campers are leading the group. If your child is anxious, reach out and tell us about them — we'll make sure they're paired with the right counselor group.

  • Yes! Many families book multiple sessions throughout the summer. Some kids attend all 11 sessions. Each session has a fresh mix of activities and your camper will meet new friends each time. There's currently no multi-session discount, but we may offer one in the future.


  • Please enter any allergy or medical concerns in the designated areas during registration. We work with every family to accommodate allergies, dietary restrictions, and medical needs. Our staff is first-aid trained and we take health seriously.
